15 examples of Squarespace travel blogs and websites

There’s a commonly held belief that Squarespace isn’t good for blogging. These beautiful travel blogs prove that idea wrong.

These examples of Squarespace travel blogs all have striking design. In many of the cases, the creators are photographers as well as writers, and Squarespace provides the perfect platform for showcasing stunning visuals.

These are blogs I have stumbled across at one point or another — whenever I find a website I love, I bookmark it for inspiration. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

These Squarespace blogs do prove you can build a successful website on this platform.

What I like about all of these is the variety of ways the blogs are monetised, from membership sections, to custom itinerary planning, to selling travel guides. If you’re thinking about starting a travel blog, let these websites provide you with all the inspiration you need.

1. Along Dusty Roads

Not long ago, I went on a hike with a new friend I met in a coliving space in Tenerife.

On the drive to the trailhead, we discovered we both run our own travel sites. Getting deep into industry chat, we started discussing our favourite travel blogs — and almost immediately we both brought up Along Dusty Roads.

Emily and Andrew set the bar in terms of photography, site design, and the depth of their content.

Such a great example of a travel blog doing what a travel blog should do; providing genuine travel advice and inspiration.

2. The Common Wanderer

The incredible photography and sleek design of The Common Wanderer travel blog make it one of my favourites on the internet.

This travel website has a strong editorial slant, and has the look and feel of a travel magazine — much more elevated than your standard travel blog.

3. Petrina Darrah — A New Zealand travel blog

Beautiful design has been a big focus of my travel blog, Petrina Darrah.

Design doesn’t necessarily help search performance, but it definitely enhances the experience of anyone who visits my site. I regularly get feedback from readers that they enjoy how visually appealing my website is.

My aim with my travel blog is to build a long term business I’m proud of, so having a beautiful blog design is part of establishing a strong brand for myself.

4. Wander Somewhere

Wander Somewhere is a travel blog by Lesley, a freelance writer from Scotland.

Her photography is lush, and her focus on Scotland makes her stand out as a local expert. I love the way she has incorporated different paid products into the blog, such as detailed itineraries for different places in Scotland.

I also really appreciate that while she has paid ads running on her website, she keeps them dialled back, so they don’t interfere with the website design.

5. Blake Erik

Blake Erik’s travel blog is visually spectacular — he describes himself as an Artist, Photographer, and Writer and all three sets of skills are on display on this site.

Sometimes there just isn’t enough space on the ‘gram for the amount of visual content I capture and curate, and with this site I hope to contextualise these experiences and photographs, and actually tell stories with them.

6. Art Distance

Art Distance is a stunning travel blog by Hannah, an art historian and travel blogger based in London.

I love the thoughtful, careful design of her travel blog, which makes it clear that she really does know her way around art.

7. Wander in RAW

Eva is an adventure photographer and writer, and her travel blog covers hiking, surfing, snowboarding, climbing, kayaking, sailing, and more. A woman after my own heart.

8. Laura the Explorer

Laura the Explorer is a global travel blog that features detailed itineraries and beautiful photography.

I really enjoy Laura’s creative use of features like image shapes to create visual interest in her blog posts.

9. Sarowly

Sarah is a San Francisco based photographer and creative. Her website Sarowly is home to her travel photography and stories.

She features travel guides, itineraries and photography from California and the rest of the world.

10. El Camino Travel

El Camino Travel is a travel company for bold women travelers. They offer group trips and an online community for women looking to broaden their cultural perspectives.

With a Squarespace website, this travel brand publishes travel guides, display strong visuals, and present a range of tours.

Our style of travel isn’t for everyone, and that’s by design. We cater to a specific kind of traveler: the curious, open-minded explorer seeking deeper connections with people and places.

11. Andrea Ference

12. Little Voyagers

Little Voyagers is a travel website aimed at families. The author promises to design highly curated travel plans for families.

The site is also a shop for travel guides to different destinations, with families in mind.

I really enjoy the branding of this travel site — it looks like a premium travel magazine.

13. Sonia Davies

Sonia Davies is more of a travel photographer than a travel blogger, but I wanted to include her on the list because her travel site truly shows what’s possible when you have stunning imagery you want to showcase.

Sonia’s Squarespace website has a dreamy, escapist, calm feeling, thanks to her spectacular pastel-hued photos.

She sells her prints through her website, which is a great option for travel bloggers who also travel with a camera.

14. And North

And North is a stunning example of a hyper local travel blog.

This blog focuses on Upstate New York, with a curated selection of places to stay, events, travel guides, and even properties to buy in the area. I predict that this kind of niche focus will only get more important in the future of blogging.

Through travel recommendations and unique events, our site inspires city dwellers and locals alike to explore the beautiful regions north of New York City while helping small businesses to grow and thrive.

15. That Boujee Bohemian

Krissy’s Squarespace blog That Boujee Bohemian is a space for sharing her travels, van life tips, and other lifestyle content. I love her earthy colour paletter and flowy style.

Takeaways from these Squarespace travel blog and travel website examples

These are the things that stand out to me when I scroll through this list.

  • Design matters. If you’re building a brand, with the intention of selling digital products or functioning as a small media company, then the look and feel of your travel site is important.

  • Images are key. If you’re not a photographer yourself, it’s worth investing time and energy into curating good stock images, because they can make or break your blog.

  • Have a clear point of view. I think what all of these websites do well is hone in on a specific topic, or region.
